绒山羊绒毛生长呈明显的季节性周期变化 ,光照时间起了重要的调节作用。日照时间由长变短时绒毛开始生长 ,日照时间由短变长时逐渐停止生长。这种周期变化的启动时间品种间存在较大差异 ,但停止生长的时间几乎是同步的。这当中褪黑激素、催乳素、类胰岛素生长因子 -Ⅰ等对调节毛囊活性存在着直接或间接的影响 ,而日粮的营养水平对绒毛周期性生长没有明显的调节作用。关于绒毛周期生长的遗传调控机理有待深入研究
